A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Ouezzane province in northern Morocco on Monday night, felt in various regions including Rabat and Kenitra. No casualties have been reported. On Monday night, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit Ouezzane province in northern Morocco. Nasser Jebour from the National Institute of Geophysics confirmed that the shockwaves were felt across several regions, including Rabat, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and northern areas such as Fas, Ksar el-Kebir, and Larache. Fortunately, local authorities have reported no casualties at this time.

In response to the tremor, social media activity increased as users shared videos depicting individuals evacuating their residences in panic. The incident followed a devastating quake on September 8, 2023, when a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Al-Haouz province, resulting in significant loss of life and injuries, affecting approximately 2.8 million people.

The recent earthquake, although strong, did not appear to have serious effects compared to the previous event, which left at least 3,000 people dead and more than 6,000 injured, causing extensive infrastructural damage. Local emergency services remain alert as they monitor the situation for aftershocks or further developments.

The 5.2 magnitude earthquake in northern Morocco’s Ouezzane province resulted in no reported casualties, despite being felt across multiple regions. This event comes on the heels of a catastrophic earthquake in September, highlighting the region’s vulnerability to seismic activity. Monitoring efforts continue as citizens remain cautious in the wake of such tremors.
