ALPLA Expands Asia-Pacific Operations with New Plant in Thailand

ALPLA has opened a new 24,000m² facility in Chachoengsao, Thailand, enhancing its Asia-Pacific operations. This site will serve as a production hub, featuring advanced technologies like ISBM and a dedicated STUDIOa for innovative packaging collaboration. Over 190 employees will work toward sustainable manufacturing, with the facility also becoming ALPLA’s new regional headquarters. CEO Philipp Lehner and APAC managing director Roland Wallner emphasize growth and market expansion through this strategic move.

ALPLA, a leader in packaging solutions and plastics recycling, has inaugurated its latest facility in Chachoengsao, Thailand, marking a significant expansion in its Asia-Pacific operations. Spanning 24,000 square meters near Bangkok, this site is designed to facilitate production, administration, and product development. It features the first STUDIOa in the region, which will foster collaboration with clients to create innovative packaging solutions.

This new facility represents a strategic enhancement of ALPLA’s production capabilities in Thailand, consolidating its role in Southeast Asia. CEO Philipp Lehner noted that the company’s two-decade presence in Thailand has been fundamental to its ongoing growth. He emphasized that the Chachoengsao plant is tailored to meet customer needs while exploring new market opportunities.

ALPLA’s Chachoengsao site prioritizes sustainability and will provide comprehensive plastic solutions across various industries. The facility has been operational since early this year, employing over 190 workers tasked with producing plastic bottles, preforms, closures, and injection-moulded parts. One innovative aspect of this site is the incorporation of one-step injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM) technologies.

The new plant will also assume the role of ALPLA’s regional headquarters, replacing the original Prachinburi facility, which will now concentrate solely on extrusion blow moulding processes. This development is part of ALPLA’s strategic consolidation of its Southeast Asia and China operations into a unified Asia-Pacific region.

Roland Wallner, managing director of ALPLA APAC, stated that this all-in-one approach enhances the company’s position as a system provider of safe and sustainable plastic packaging solutions from a single source. The Chachoengsao facility will combine advanced technology, high-quality standards, and superior customer service, helping to expand market share and enter new segments. Additionally, ALPLA’s recycling division recently acquired a majority stake in Brazilian company Clean Bottle, which specializes in high-density polyethylene recycling.
