ECSL Denies Recruitment Scam Linked to Social Media Circulation

A false recruitment link claiming job openings at the Electoral Commission Sierra Leone circulated on WhatsApp. ECSL’s External Relations Officer confirmed the claims were bogus, and an official statement was released to inform the public to ignore the misleading information.
The Electoral Commission Sierra Leone (ECSL) has officially discredited a link that circulated on social media platforms, especially WhatsApp, claiming that it was recruiting for various positions. This misleading message encouraged job seekers to apply, stating that “Recruitment has already started. Don’t miss this great opportunity! APPLICATION IS FREE!!!” Such claims attracted many, particularly unemployed youth, leading to a verification check by media sources.
Upon inquiry, Albert Massaquoi, the External Relations Officer for ECSL, confirmed that the circulating link was false. He stated, “That link is fake, and we haven’t opened a recruitment process for new workers.” Following reports of misinformation and concern from the public, ECSL issued a formal disclaimer on February 6, 2025, urging citizens to ignore the fraudulent announcement and protect themselves from potential scams.
In summary, the information about recruitment at the Electoral Commission Sierra Leone circulating on WhatsApp is unfounded and officially denied by the ECSL. Public warning has been issued to disregard such scams, emphasizing the importance of verifying opportunities before applying.
