North Korea has rejected Trump’s Gaza proposal, denouncing it as an act of forcibly displacing the Gazan populace and a violation of national sovereignty and international law. The KCNA accused the U.S. of exacerbating the conflicts through support of Israel and criticized the proposal’s threat to peace efforts in the region.

On Wednesday, North Korea formally rejected President Donald Trump’s proposal to “take over” the Gaza Strip, criticizing it as an “act of forcibly expelling the Gazan people.” The state-controlled Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) stated that national sovereignty should not be bargained with Washington, especially amid ongoing violence in Gaza, which has elicited international concern.

The KCNA published a commentary condemning Trump’s suggestion, arguing that it undermines the fragile hopes of Palestinians seeking peace and stability, and calling it a violation of the UN Charter and international law. Such a proposal, it contended, obstructs the path to a two-state solution and is an “absolutely unacceptable reckless act.”

Moreover, the KCNA criticized the United States for enabling Israel’s actions by endorsing its “right to self-defense” and supplying advanced military equipment. The agency refrained from directly naming Trump but clearly identified the U.S. as complicity in the plight of the Palestinian people.

Trump’s idea, presented on February 4, suggested relocating Palestinians as part of a redevelopment plan aimed at transforming Gaza into what he described as “the Riviera of the Middle East.” This initiative has faced significant backlash from Palestinians, Arab states, and global leaders including those from Canada, France, Germany, and the UK.

North Korea has categorically dismissed President Trump’s Gaza takeover proposal, labeling it an affront to national sovereignty and in violation of international norms. The KCNA’s comments highlight deeper tensions regarding U.S. involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts and underscore widespread opposition to measures perceived as detrimental to Palestinian rights and aspirations for statehood.
