Married Couple Arrested in Guyana for Drug Possession

Premchand Kalicharran, age 37, a laborer with a history of narcotics offenses, was seen packaging the suspicious materials at his residence. He had recently been released from prison on a larceny charge and was known to police for prior offenses.
During the police investigation, officers located several packages of suspected cannabis, including four large transparent wraps, a plastic bag, and 52 small ziplock bags containing cannabis-related plant materials. The total weight of the marijuana was confirmed at 2.025 kilograms.
Kalicharran reportedly claimed ownership of the marijuana, stating, “Is me weed, you all come and find me with it.” His wife, Shazeeda Kumarie, who was present during the raid, was also arrested.
Both individuals were escorted to Springlands Police Station where the confiscated drugs were weighed in their presence. They remain in custody while the investigation continues, with charges expected to follow shortly.
