Chad is sealing schools and restricting movements in the Bologo district due to a measles outbreak linked to vaccine hesitancy. With over 50 confirmed cases in two weeks, health officials have dispatched workers to educate the public. Ongoing vaccination challenges stem from low coverage and former conflicts, but efforts are in place to increase campaign effectiveness as stability returns.

In response to a measles epidemic, Chad health officials have closed dozens of schools in the Bologo district, 400 kilometers from the capital, N’Djamena. Thousands of children and their teachers have been sent home, and movement restrictions are in place to curb the spread of the virus. Officials attribute the outbreak to rising vaccine hesitancy among the population, which has led to a surge in cases over the last two weeks.

Chad is facing a measles epidemic exacerbated by vaccine hesitancy, prompting school closures and community movement restrictions in the affected Bologo district. Health officials are working to combat traditional beliefs that hinder vaccination efforts and highlight the need for improved immunization coverage to avoid future outbreaks. Continued international partnership remains crucial for successful vaccination initiatives in Chad.
