Josphat Amaya, the deceased’s elder brother, rejected the notion of suicide, stating, “The doctor conducting the autopsy told us he had drowned, but how he ended up in the dam is what is baffling us.” He emphasized that their pain would ease once they determined the true circumstances surrounding their brother’s death.
Josphat recounted the family’s ordeal in searching for Daniel, who had been reported missing on Wednesday, with the body being found three days later. He narrated how they traveled from Kisii County after hearing of his disappearance and began their search for him, culminating in the tragic discovery of his body in the dam.
In a related incident, another student was found deceased, hanging from a tree on campus just days before Amaya’s body was retrieved, raising additional concerns about safety on the university grounds. Embu West Sub-County Police Commander Zacharia Omae confirmed these incidents and conveyed that investigations into both deaths are ongoing.
