February 2025 Tropical Cyclone Activity Report: Pacific Region

The Pacific Disaster Center reports on several active tropical cyclones as of February 4, 2025, including TC 11S (Faida), TC 13S (Vince), TC 14S (Taliah), and TC 15P, along with a developing disturbance, Invest 92P. Each cyclone has specific intensity and future path projections, with warnings issued for land interaction. Continuous monitoring is crucial for potential developments in Invest 92P.
As of February 4, 2025, the following tropical cyclones are currently active:
– Tropical Cyclone 11S (Faida): Located about 113 nautical miles southeast of Antananarivo, Madagascar. Final warnings have been issued as the cyclone is expected to weaken to 30 knots after landfall, though it may regain strength over the Mozambique Channel.
– Tropical Cyclone 13S (Vince): Positioned approximately 1,741 nautical miles east of Port Louis, Mauritius, with sustained winds of 95 knots and potential redevelopment after interacting with land.
– Tropical Cyclone 14S (Taliah): About 760 nautical miles east-southeast of Cocos Islands, exhibiting sustained winds of 80 knots. The environment remains marginally favorable, although dry air and wind shear are concerns.
– Tropical Cyclone 15P: Situated around 310 nautical miles southwest of Suva, Fiji, presently recorded with 35 knots of sustained winds. Its structure is potentially subtropical due to rapid environmental changes.
– Invest 92P: A new area of disturbed weather is about 308 nautical miles west-northwest of Noumea, New Caledonia, showing a favorable development environment with potential winds of 28-33 knots over the next 24 hours.
The current report highlights several active tropical cyclones across the Indian and Pacific Oceans, detailing their positions, wind strengths, and projected paths. Cyclones 11S, 13S, and 14S are particularly significant due to their proximity to land and potential impacts. Investment in monitoring weather patterns, especially for Invest 92P, is crucial as favorable conditions may lead to intensification within the next day.
