Campbell Scott, a British businessman, was missing for eight days before being found dead in Kenya. His body was discovered in a forest approximately 60 miles from Nairobi, where he disappeared after attending a conference. Fico, his employer, confirmed the identification and mourned his loss.

A British businessman, Campbell Scott, was reported missing and found dead in Kenya, according to his company, Fico. Scott, aged 58, disappeared while attending a conference at the JW Marriott hotel in Nairobi on February 16. Authorities launched an investigation that involved searching various local restaurants and bars following his disappearance.

On February 22, animal herders discovered a body in a sack in the Makongo forest, about 60 miles southeast of Nairobi. Though identification was pending at a hospital, preliminary reports indicated signs of strangulation.

Fico confirmed the body was identified as Campbell Scott, but it remains unclear if the discovery in Makongo forest is directly linked to his case. In their statement, Fico expressed their sorrow and described Scott’s significant contributions to their business since joining in 2014, emphasizing his character and kindness.

Prior reports stated that Scott was seen at a bar in Nairobi’s upscale Westlands area before his disappearance, from which he later took a taxi to a nearby slum. The UK Foreign Office is coordinating with Kenyan authorities, who have also sought Interpol’s help to access Scott’s call data. A friend described him as “the kindest person in the world.”

The Foreign Office has yet to comment officially on the situation.

The tragic death of Campbell Scott highlights the concerning issue of personal safety for individuals traveling for business. His disappearance, the subsequent investigation, and the manner of his death raise critical questions regarding security in unfamiliar environments. His contributions to his company and reputation among peers underscore the profound loss felt by those who knew him.
