E Mendoza, a local from Constantina, recounted the experience, saying, “It was like a washing machine. It lasted for almost a minute.” She noted that an emergency alert was sent via mobile phones, providing information about the earthquake, including its magnitude and safety instructions. Mendoza emphasized the panic among her community as they reached out to ensure family and friends were safe.

Another resident mentioned, “Everything was shaking, even the windows.” The unexpected nature of the event, particularly during nighttime, heightened a sense of confusion. Emergency services, 112 Andalusia, received numerous calls from concerned residents, many of whom were awoken by the quakes.

Although large earthquakes are rare in Andalusia, the region does have a history of tremors due to its proximity to tectonically active areas, such as the Gibraltar Belt and various fault lines.
