In Mozambique, an agreement has been signed by President Daniel Chapo and the nation’s key political parties to address a post-election crisis through state reforms. This significant event unfolded on Wednesday in Maputo, involving several parliamentary parties, including the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo), and five extra-parliamentary groups such as the National Reconciliation Party (Parena) and the Democratic Revolution (RD).
Chapo emphasized the importance of unity among the political factions, stating, “This is the right moment to set aside our political differences and prioritize the interests of Mozambique and its people.” He noted that the agreement signifies the parties’ trust in the government’s capability to uphold political, economic, and social stability.

Albino Forquilha, head of Podemos and spokesperson for the opposition parties, underscored the agreement’s potential to create new opportunities in Mozambique. He stated, “Building consensus among the signatory parties is key to addressing the issues that have been at the centre of the country’s recurring political, economic, and socio-cultural instabilities.”
