The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has labeled the incident a murder and has arrested two individuals linked to the case.

The suspects, identified as Benard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa (alias Edu), are currently evading arrest. The police have solicited public assistance, sharing images of the suspects on social media and encouraging anyone with information to reach out.

Scott was last seen at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi on February 16 before his body was recovered approximately 66 miles southeast of the city with his hands tied. A Kenyan court has detained the two captured suspects for 21 days to undergo further investigation regarding Scott’s murder.

A native of Dunfermline, Fife, Scott was a senior director at Fico, a credit-scoring firm, and was notable for expanding business operations in new markets since joining the company in 2014. Fico’s spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over his passing, acknowledging his vital contributions and the loss felt by his colleagues.

The National Police Service of Kenya characterized Scott’s murder as a “heinous, heinous crime,” describing the ongoing investigation as complex, being spearheaded by the homicide unit. Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office has stated that it is in contact with local authorities, providing support to Scott’s family in this dire situation.
