The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kenya has reported that these men abducted the preacher as he was walking towards a restaurant, stripped him of his clothing, and blackmailed him by threatening to post compromising photos online.
During the kidnapping incident, detectives revealed that the gang extorted 55,000 Kenyan shillings (approximately £330) from the pastor. The DCI mentioned that the suspects forced him to disclose his financial information under threats of releasing embarrassing images. Following this, law enforcement conducted raids, recovering the extorted money and the pastor’s mobile device.
Despite initial arrests, it remains unclear what subsequent actions were taken on the suspects after their court appearances. Campbell Scott was last observed at the JW Marriot Hotel in Nairobi on February 16, leading to his body being found bound in a bag of pineapples approximately 66 miles from the capital over the weekend of February 22.
Presently, a court in Kenya has granted permission for further police detention of the two apprehended suspects for 21 days as further investigations continue into Scott’s murder case, with updates emerging regarding their court proceedings.
