The Kenya Meteorological Department warns of heavy rainfall from March 7 to March 11, 2025, affecting several regions, including the highlands and Lake Victoria Basin. Predominantly sunny weather is expected initially, with rainfall intensifying over the weekend and isolated storms forecasted. Some areas will remain dry, particularly in the northeastern regions.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding moderate to heavy rainfall expected from March 7 to March 11, 2025. Eight regions, including the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and Central and South Rift Valley, will be affected. Additionally, isolated storms may occur in some areas over the weekend.

Other locations predicted to receive rainfall include the Coastal Region, southeastern lowlands, northwest, and southern coast of Kenya. The department anticipates predominantly sunny, dry, and hot conditions before the rains begin, particularly over the weekend.

Counties in the eastern highlands, such as Nairobi, Nyandarua, and Meru, will see moderate to heavy rainfall from Saturday through Tuesday. Initially, these areas will experience hot and sunny weather on Friday before the onset of rain.

Similarly, the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley counties, including Siaya and Kisumu, are forecasted to face heavy rains from March 9 to March 12. Other counties like Nakuru, Narok, and Kakamega are also expected to have similar weather patterns.

Conversely, counties in the northeastern region, such as Marsabit and Wajir, will remain dry and sunny. The meteorological department further cautioned about high temperatures surpassing 30°C nationwide, except in the eastern highlands where it is expected to remain below 30°C.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a significant warning about the upcoming week of heavy rainfall affecting multiple regions across the country. While various areas will experience sunny and hot weather initially, the forecasted rains could lead to potential storms, especially by the weekend. Regions like the eastern highlands and Lake Victoria Basin are particularly at risk. However, some northeastern counties will remain unaffected by the rainfall and continue to experience dry conditions.
