Morocco’s Ministry of Equipment warns of potential traffic disruptions due to heavy snow and thunderstorms forecasted to begin Friday. Travelers are advised to postpone trips, check vehicle safety, and exercise caution on vulnerable road sections. Heavy snowfall and strong winds are expected across multiple provinces, impacting travel conditions significantly.

The Moroccan Ministry of Equipment has issued a warning regarding impending traffic disruptions due to anticipated heavy snowfall and thunderstorms, starting this Friday. Travelers are advised to postpone their trips to the affected provinces unless absolutely necessary, as per the meteorological office’s forecasts.

Citizens are specifically urged to avoid nighttime travel and to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained. This includes checking essential mechanical components such as batteries, brakes, lights, tire pressure, and windshield wipers, to enhance safety in adverse weather conditions.

Travelers should exercise caution on roads that may be prone to flooding, particularly at low points and areas where dry riverbeds and flood channels intersect. The Ministry emphasizes avoiding submerged fords during floods and adhering to speed limits while maintaining safe distances between vehicles.

Drivers are reminded to follow traffic signs and comply with local authorities’ directives. Heavy snowfall exceeding 1,500 meters is expected to result in snow accumulation of 25 to 60 centimeters in various provinces, including Ifrane, Azilal, and Beni Mellal, among others.

Additionally, heavy thunderstorms with hail and rainfall levels between 25 to 130 millimeters are forecast for provinces such as Tangier, Al Hoceima, and Essaouira. Strong winds are also anticipated, affecting regions like Chefchaouen and multiple others across the country from Friday night to Monday.

The Moroccan Ministry of Equipment has alerted citizens to severe weather conditions that may affect travel. With expected heavy snow, rainfall, and strong winds, precautionary measures are vital to ensure safety during this period. It includes maintenance checks on vehicles and adherence to traffic regulations. Travelers should be particularly cautious during nighttime travel and in potential flooding areas to prevent accidents non-compliance with safety measures.
