As of March 4, 2025, satellite imagery indicates that approximately 7 km² of the Gaborone, South East, and Kgatleng Districts are still inundated with floodwaters, despite a decrease of about 23 km² since February 23 and 25, 2025. This is a preliminary analysis pending validation. Ground feedback is requested by UNOSAT.

On March 4, 2025, satellite technology revealed water extents in Gaborone, South East, and Kgatleng Districts in Botswana. The mapping employed multisatellite data, including images from Sentinel-2, PlanetScope, and Kanopus-V. In the surveyed area of roughly 700 km², approximately 7 km² still exhibits the presence of floodwaters.

Since late February 2025, floodwaters have receded by around 23 km², indicating some improvement in local conditions. This report serves as a preliminary analysis and has yet to undergo field validation. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide ground feedback to the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT).

Satellite observations on March 4, 2025, show that flood events in Gaborone, South East, and Kgatleng Districts have impacted a limited area, with water extents decreasing since late February. This preliminary analysis is subject to validation and underlines the need for ongoing monitoring and ground verification via UNOSAT.
