Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student, went missing in Punta Cana on March 6. Her father has requested a broader investigation into her disappearance, suspecting kidnapping or foul play due to the circumstances. Authorities have mobilized resources for a search, while the university supports her family in the efforts to locate her.

Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student, went missing on March 6 in Punta Cana during a spring break trip. Her father, Subbarayudu Konanki, urged authorities to broaden their investigation beyond the initial assumption of accidental drowning. He expressed concern, stating that four days without being found indicates the need to explore possibilities like kidnapping or abduction.

The local authorities have deployed drones, helicopters, and detection dogs to search the waters where Konanki was last seen, as reported by Civil Defense spokesman Jensen Sánchez. Currently, the search is focused on the sea, as it is presumed she drowned, based on accounts from individuals who were with her. However, the investigation remains open to other scenarios.

Following Sudiksha’s disappearance, her family traveled to Punta Cana. They filed a complaint emphasizing that her belongings, particularly her phone and wallet, were left with friends—an unusual act for her. This has prompted her father to request a detailed inquiry into the situation, including foul play or kidnapping.

Sudiksha, an Indian citizen and U.S. permanent resident residing in Chantilly, Virginia, traveled to the Dominican Republic with five friends on March 3. The University of Pittsburgh is actively involved in the search and has provided support to her family during this distressing time, as stated by school officials.

The ongoing search for Sudiksha Konanki raises significant concerns about her safety and potential foul play. Her father’s plea for a broader investigation reflects the family’s fear of her possible abduction, especially given the unusual circumstances of her belongings being left behind. With multiple resources deployed in the search efforts, authorities continue to explore all possibilities, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
