Cyclone ‘JUDE’ is located near the Mozambique Channel and could bring increased rainfall to Tanzania. TMA advises the public to stay informed but states direct impacts are unlikely. The authority will monitor developments closely.

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has issued a warning regarding Cyclone ‘JUDE’, located in the Indian Ocean near the Mozambique Channel, which is expected to cause increased rainfall across Tanzania. TMA’s analysis indicates that the cyclone will make landfall in Mozambique today and may weaken thereafter.

Although it is expected to return to the ocean and potentially regain strength between March 13 and 15, 2025, TMA emphasizes that current projections suggest it will not have direct effects on Tanzania. However, its presence is anticipated to impact local weather systems, coinciding with the onset of the long rains season.

TMA advises the marine community and the public to continuously monitor weather forecasts and follow guidance from experts. The authority is actively overseeing the situation and will provide updates as needed. In January, TMA had similarly alerted the public about Cyclone Dikeledi impacting the region. Citizens are encouraged to remain alert and adopt requisite safety measures as weather conditions change.

In summary, Cyclone ‘JUDE’ will influence weather conditions in Tanzania, resulting in increased rainfall during the long rains season. While TMA assures that direct impacts on Tanzania are unlikely, citizens should remain informed and cautious, prior to necessary updates from meteorological experts on this evolving situation.
