Founded by Theodore Herzl over a century ago, the WZC holds power over more than $5 billion in funding for Jewish causes and manages vital organizations such as the Jewish Agency and Jewish National Fund.
Every Jewish adult in the U.S. can participate in the election, which runs from March 10 to May 4, by accepting Zionist principles and paying a $5 registration fee. This election sees a confrontation between liberal and right-wing Orthodox factions, each attempting to guide the priorities and policies of Zionist institutions at a critical juncture for Israel, impacting issues like religious pluralism and Israeli-Diaspora relations.

Among the 21 slates up for voting, Achdut Israel champions support for Israeli troops and global Jewish community empowerment, while AID Coalition aligns with the movement against PM Netanyahu’s government, advocating for democracy in Israel. Various other slates reflect differing ideological priorities: Aish Ha’am promotes Orthodox Judaism; American Forum for Israel supports settlement expansion, and Am Yisrael Chai appeals to college students.
Other slates include ANU: A New Union, which advocates for a two-state solution and judicial independence, and Beyachad, focused on traditional values. Notably, Dorshei Torah V’Tzion represents liberal Orthodox Jews, promoting inclusion, while Eretz Hakodesh targets religious values and policies.
The Hatikvah Slate emphasizes human rights and democratic norms, while Herut North America discusses unwavering Zionism and indigenous rights. Israel365 Action advocates for exclusive Israeli governance and is criticized for potentially misleading representation.
