Recent research indicates that specific water exercises can assist significantly in weight management, with participants losing approximately 3.175 kg within a 10-week period. Engaging in activities such as Zumba, yoga, and water running for an hour regularly results in a noticeable reduction in weight and waist circumference, as reported by “Russia Today.”

The study highlights the advantages of exercising in water, which provides added resistance, enhancing calorie expenditure and thereby fostering greater weight loss. Moreover, water-based exercises alleviate stress on joints like knees and ankles, lowering injury risks, particularly beneficial for overweight individuals.

Researchers from South Korean and Chinese institutions studied nearly 300 participants aged 20 to 70, discovering that underwater exercises were especially beneficial for women over 45. The research encompassed results from 10 clinical trials across various countries, such as Malaysia, Brazil, India, the United States, and the Netherlands, to understand the impacts of water exercises on weight management.

Participants, all overweight or obese, engaged in a water fitness program lasting 6 to 12 weeks, which consisted of 2-3 sessions per week, including water Zumba and underwater treadmill training. Results demonstrated that participants lost an average of 2 kg in under 10 weeks, with those extending their exercise duration to 10 weeks or longer losing an average of 3 kg.

Notably, a previous 2017 study in Poland revealed that overweight women shed an average of 3.4 kg after engaging in underwater exercises for six months.
