Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student, is missing during a spring break trip in the Dominican Republic. U.S. investigators identified a person of interest in the case. This remains a missing person investigation, as authorities search for leads on her last known whereabouts and actions.

In the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student missing since her spring break trip to the Dominican Republic, a person of interest has been identified by U.S. investigators. Authorities from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia have confirmed this development, noting their detectives are aiding the investigation although they lack jurisdiction in the case.

While the specific details of this individual’s involvement remain unclear, investigations continue in collaboration with the Dominican Republic authorities. A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office emphasized that this designation does not imply criminal suspicion, highlighting that it is still classified as a missing person case.

Konanki, 20, journeyed to Punta Cana with five college friends on March 3. Her last known movements were captured on security footage at the Riu Republica Resort, showing her entering a beach area around 4:15 a.m. on March 6, shortly before her disappearance. Security videos shared by Noticias SIN document her departure to the beach alongside unfamiliar individuals.

Konanki’s friends returned to the hotel roughly 40 minutes later, unaware that she had chosen to remain with others. After realizing her absence the following day, they promptly notified hotel staff, which initiated the search. Conflicting reports mention that one individual last in contact with her described an incident involving a wave at the beach.

However, according to National Police spokesperson Diego Pesqueira, there were no indications of blood or violent acts at the scene where Konanki was last seen. Additionally, the FBI is providing support to both U.S. and Dominican authorities in the investigation.

The investigation into Sudiksha Konanki’s disappearance is ongoing, with a person of interest identified by U.S. investigators. While efforts involve both U.S. and Dominican authorities, the case remains classified as a missing person matter. Security footage aids in tracking her last movements, while no evidence of violence has been found at the beach site. Collaborative support continues as investigators seek to locate the missing student.
