Authorities revealed that Musembi allegedly transported Scott’s body over 100 kilometers before it was discovered. Campbell Scott, who disappeared during a business trip to Nairobi, was later found deceased and bound in a sack of pineapples in a forest.
Scott disappeared while attending a conference in Nairobi, with his body later discovered tied in a sack in Makongo Forest, 66 miles from Nairobi. Local police suspect he was kidnapped and tortured prior to his death. Musembi’s death occurred while he was allegedly hiding from law enforcement at a friend’s residence in Dandora, Nairobi, before dying from a self-inflicted stab wound.
After being found severely injured, he was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following morning. Authorities indicated that Membu’s death was a response to the intense pressure he faced regarding the murder investigation.
Two additional suspects, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu and Alphonse Munya Kilewa, remain at large in connection with the murder. Previously, Musembi and these men were also accused of kidnapping and extorting a local preacher. Investigations revealed links between the suspects and the brutal murder of Campbell Scott, with indications that money and possessions were stolen from him after his demise.
Investigators noted that approximately £12,000 was taken from Scott, with significant withdrawals made using his bank cards before his body was found. Additional arrests have occurred as police continue to pursue leads, including two suspects captured in Mombasa, who attempted to use Scott’s credit cards in multiple locations. Meanwhile, Alex Mutua, identified on CCTV with Scott prior to his disappearance, has been charged with murder and related offenses, while a toxicology test is underway to ascertain the cause of death.
