Kalle Rovanpera aims for a strong performance to boost his WRC title bid at the Safari Rally Kenya. After struggling with new Hankook tyres, he hopes the gravel tyres will improve his competitiveness. Despite being third in the championship, he seeks to close the gap with leaders. With supportive team leadership, Rovanpera looks to make the most of the unique challenges of the Safari Rally, while fans can follow the events through DAZN.

Two-time world champion Kalle Rovanpera is optimistic about securing a vital performance at the Safari Rally Kenya, crucial for reigniting his World Rally Championship (WRC) title ambitions. Rovanpera has faced challenges adapting to the new Hankook control tyres introduced for the 2025 season, which has hindered his performance in previous events, including a fourth-place finish in Monte Carlo and fifth in Sweden.
With the Safari Rally marking the first gravel event of the season, Rovanpera aims to leverage the Hankook gravel tyres to enhance his driving strategy and regain competitive momentum. Despite early season struggles, he currently sits third in the championship but is 30 points behind the leader, Elfyn Evans. Rovanpera stated, “Now we go on gravel a new tyre again and something new to learn.”
Rovanpera expressed optimism about the upcoming event, citing a recent positive test on the gravel tyres as significant in achieving a better car and tyre feel. He emphasized the unique nature of the Safari Rally and stated the need for a strong result this year. Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala believes the gravel tyres could be better suited for Rovanpera’s style, enhancing his chance for success.
Latvala will not attend the rally due to conflicting commitments; instead, four-time world champion Juha Kankkunen will serve as deputy team principal. Rovanpera welcomed Kankkunen’s presence, appreciating his experience and positive influence on the team.
For WRC fans, the 2025 Championship is available through DAZN’s dedicated app channel, Rally TV, offering all races from both the WRC and European Rally Championship, except in specific countries. DAZN provides subscription options for viewers, ensuring they can watch the complete rally season.

Kalle Rovanpera is determined to improve his position in the WRC at the Safari Rally Kenya by adapting to the latest gravel tyres specific to this season. Although facing significant challenges in previous rounds, he remains in contention for the championship. The presence of experienced team personnel like Juha Kankkunen could bolster Rovanpera’s performance as he navigates the unique demands of the Safari Rally, with hopes for a strong comeback. The WRC coverage is accessible through DAZN, enabling fans worldwide to stay updated with the latest rally events.
