Man Killed While Attempting to Prevent Violence at Zhombe Bar

In a tragic event, a 45-year-old man named Shepherd Mavhangira from Zhombe in Kwekwe, Midlands province, passed away after attempting to stop a violent incident. Mavhangira tried to intervene when three men began hurling bricks at patrons at a local beer spot. Unfortunately, in the course of his intervention, Mavhangira was violently assaulted with bricks, leading to his death.
Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), confirmed the incident, reporting a manhunt launched for the suspects. The police are actively searching for Kenias Mapfumo, Armstrong Marumahoko, and Mathias Tatenda Dhlamini, all connected to Mavhangira’s murder that occurred on March 13, 2025.
According to police reports, the attackers struck Mavhangira multiple times with bricks, targeting his forehead, thigh, and left bicep, resulting in immediate fatal injuries. ZRP has urged anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts to contact the nearest police station to facilitate their apprehension.
