In the latest MotoGP event at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit in Argentina, Marc Marquez defeated his younger brother Alex, marking a remarkable start to the season. Winning both the sprint race and the main event, Marc displayed dominance, achieving victories from pole position as he aims for his seventh world title.

This victory marks Marc’s first back-to-back wins since 2014, celebrating his 90th career grand prix. He currently leads the riders’ standings with 74 points while competing aboard the factory Ducati. Marc’s excellent performance included topping practice times and setting a new track record for pole position, his 96th.

The event attracted a record 209,000 attendees, significantly boosting the local population. During the race, a collision between Fabio Quartararo and Marco Bezzecchi occurred as Marc led into the first turn. Alex briefly took the lead after exploiting a mistake by Marc but ultimately could not maintain it as the race progressed.

Mid-race, Alex attempted to pull ahead, believing a win was within reach, but Marc closed the gap and retook the lead on lap 18. Despite Alex’s impressive defense, Marc pulled away with just five laps remaining, securing a commanding victory. Notably, Alex expressed his admiration for his brother’s ability to overtake him.

Marc also reflected on his achievement, recognizing the significance of matching the 90 wins of legendary motorcycle racer Angel Nieto. For Alex, this race marks his consistent runner-up finish, indicating his near proximity to his first MotoGP victory. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia finished fourth, trailing behind Marc significantly in the championship race.

Miguel Oliveira withdrew from the race due to a previous crash but escaped serious injury. The defending champion, Jorge Martin, was unable to compete due to ongoing recovery from injuries sustained in Thailand. His absence was notably felt, as highlighted by a supportive banner from fans at the event.

Marc Marquez’s victory over Alex Marquez at the MotoGP Argentina event emphasized his continued dominance in the sport, marking his 90th career win. The event showcased fierce competition and significant attendance, underlining the excitement of the 2025 MotoGP season. Alex’s strong performance signals his potential for future success, while injuries sidelined key competitors, impacting the dynamic of the championship standings.
