He plans to further his impact while staying true to his roots and faith.

Elvis Lenzy, whose real name is Elvis Inyarubuga, is emerging as a notable figure in Rwanda’s music scene. Born on July 2, 2003, in Ngoma District, he lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his aunt. Educated at New Life Christian Academy and Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, he began to delve into music seriously, recording and collaborating with friends who have supported his journey.

At Agahozo, Lenzy had his first studio experiences and began experimenting with his sound. He recalls, “I used to sing all the time, everywhere—at home, for friends, for anyone who would listen. But I didn’t start recording until I got to Agahozo. That’s when I really began experimenting with my sound and meeting people who helped me grow.”

Rejecting the confines of a single genre, Lenzy incorporates Afrobeat, dancehall, and trap into his music. He states, “I just want to make music that feels good—to me and to the people listening.” His debut single, ‘Tina,’ produced by his former classmate Flambeau, features smooth melodies and Afro-fusion rhythms, marking his arrival as a promising new talent.

Following ‘Tina,’ Lenzy released ‘Akanyambo’ on March 14, which is a tribute to Rwandan beauty, inspired by the Inyambo cattle. This song combines captivating melodies and bilingual lyrics to convey deep emotions. Both tracks were produced by Flambeau, with the video for ‘Akanyambo’ directed by Burundian filmmaker John Elarts, known for his work with Rwandan artists.

Lenzy describes his songwriting process as flexible, stating, “Sometimes I write everything beforehand; other times, I start with melodies and build from there. Inspiration comes at the weirdest times.” Despite his burgeoning fame, he approaches his career with humility, asserting, “I never set expectations. I just do what I have to do and let the people decide. My job is to make sure I’m putting in the work.”

Looking to the future, Lenzy aims to establish himself firmly in the Rwandan music market, with several projects in the pipeline and more music on the way. He expresses his openness to collaborations: “If we share the same vision, I’m ready to create.” Grounded in his faith, he concludes with a belief in following his path, stating, “I don’t really think too much about mentorship. I just believe that everything is in God’s hands. I work hard, and I trust that things will fall into place.” With his talent and determination, Elvis Lenzy is poised to be a significant figure in the Rwandan music industry.

Elvis Lenzy is rapidly gaining recognition in Rwanda’s music scene, particularly after his debut single, ‘Tina.’ With a background marked by resilience and a diverse musical influence, Lenzy combines Afrobeat with other genres. He has ambitious plans for the future, emphasizing a collaborative spirit and a grounded approach to his artistry. His unwavering faith and dedication position him as a rising star in the industry.
