Restoration of Nampula-Nacala Connection Enhances Economic Activity

The road connection between Nampula and Nacala-Porto has been restored following a detour. This development allows movement to coastal districts and restores traffic between Rapale and Mecubúri, essential for economic activities post-Tropical Storm Jude.
The road link between Nampula city and Nacala-Porto has been successfully restored along with connections to the coastal districts of the Island of Mozambique, Mossuril, and Memba. This was facilitated by a newly opened road diversion in the Anchilo area, where the National Road Number One (N1) was previously damaged due to Tropical Storm Jude.
Williamo Tuzine, the spokesperson for the Provincial Executive Council, announced this significant development after a recent government session. The newly opened detour allows for the resumption of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic, which is essential for reviving local economic activities.
Additionally, traffic flow has resumed between the districts of Rapale and Mecubúri, which had also been disrupted. The prior road closures had resulted in long queues for vehicles transporting essential goods, including fuel, highlighting the importance of these connections for the region.
The restoration of the road connection between Nampula and Nacala-Porto marks a crucial step in resuming economic activities following Tropical Storm Jude’s impact. With traffic back to normal between key districts, this development is expected to alleviate congestion and enhance the movement of goods and people, fostering local economic growth.
