Daniel Owusu Koranteng has been remanded on charges of murdering journalist Ahmed Suale in 2019. He is alleged to have unlawfully harmed Suale, with connections to tensions raised by media owner Kennedy Agyapong. Koranteng declined police invitations and fled to the UK but returned to Ghana in 2025, leading to his arrest.

Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a 35-year-old businessman and former colleague of the late journalist Ahmed Suale, has been remanded in custody by the Madina District Court on murder charges. Allegedly, Koranteng caused Suale’s death through unlawful harm on January 16, 2019, in Madina. He remains legally represented and is scheduled to reappear in court on April 1, 2025.

The prosecution’s case states that the petitioner, a relative of Suale, links Koranteng to the murder. Both men were employees of the Tiger Eye company led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and the prosecution maintains that Koranteng had numerous interactions with Suale and his family prior to the incident.

Tensions heightened in June 2018 when Kennedy Agyapong, a media owner, aired Suale’s images on Net2TV, calling for harm against him. The prosecution claims Suale identified Koranteng as the individual responsible for providing Agyapong with his photographs.

Following the broadcast of his images, Suale was fatally shot on January 16, 2019. Call records allegedly placed Koranteng near Suale’s residence at the time of the murder and indicated he traveled to his home in Amasaman later that evening.

During police investigations, Koranteng consistently refused to attend invitations from officers and fled to the United Kingdom in August 2019, later returning to Ghana. He was arrested in Amasaman on March 15, 2025, due to intelligence efforts. While Koranteng acknowledged knowing Suale and visiting Agyapong, he denied selling the photographs to anyone. The police investigation continues to seek additional suspects associated with the case.

Daniel Owusu Koranteng has been charged with the murder of Ahmed Suale, following allegations that he unlawfully harmed the journalist in January 2019. Tensions surrounding the case escalated after Suale’s images were broadcasted by Kennedy Agyapong, leading to his assassination. Koranteng’s connections to Suale and subsequent behavior raise questions about his involvement, as police investigations are ongoing to uncover additional suspects.
