Voting in the U.S. for the 2025 World Zionist Congress election has more than doubled in its first week compared to 2020, with 53,213 votes cast. This increase demonstrates strong American Jewish engagement in shaping Israel’s future. A record 22 groups and over 2,900 candidates are participating, with the Congress set to take place in Jerusalem in October 2025.

Voting participation for the 2025 World Zionist Congress election in the United States has surged, with initial figures showing over double the votes compared to the previous election in 2020. As reported on March 10, 2023, 53,213 votes were cast in the first week, reflecting a 122% increase from 23,938 votes in the same timeframe of 2020. This trend suggests that the election could exceed the previous total of 123,575 votes. For context, only 7,639 votes were recorded in the first week of the 2015 election.

The election, held every five years, empowers American Jews to influence Israel’s future, global Jewish community dynamics, and support Zionism. A total of 152 US delegates will be elected, representing about one-third of the World Zionist Congress. These delegates will collaborate with global representatives to shape key operational and financial directions of major Jewish organizations.

Decisions emerging from the Congress will impact the strategic allocation of over $1 billion annually for supporting Israel and Jewish communities worldwide. Herbert Block, executive director of AZM, expressed satisfaction with the current voter turnout, emphasizing that it reflects American Jews’ commitment to Zionism and signals urgent concerns regarding the Jewish and Israeli future.

This election features a record of 22 competing groups, spanning diverse political stances, religious backgrounds, and cultural affiliations. This marks a significant increase from the 14 groups that participated in 2020. Additionally, over 2,900 candidates from 43 U.S. states are vying for election, showcasing a growth of more than 60% since the last election.

The upcoming 39th World Zionist Congress is scheduled to convene in Jerusalem from October 28 to 30, 2025.
