This raid was allegedly conducted by about 20 armed men led by Richard Jakpa, the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat. Afenyo-Markin expressed his indignation regarding the incident, promising to seek explanations from the government.
The raid occurred at Dr. Addison’s home in Roman Ridge, Accra, on March 19. The heavily armed operatives, some masked and carrying AK-47 rifles, conducted a search of the premises while Dr. Addison was present. Reports indicate that upon arrival, the National Security team disabled the CCTV system and demanded Dr. Addison’s assistance in locating any alleged cash vaults in the house.
Despite Dr. Addison’s clarification that he did not have any vaults or hidden cash, the operatives proceeded to search the house. Witnesses reported that the team ransacked the property, ultimately finding nothing of consequence.
