Revolt Motors Enters Nepal with Electric Motorcycles Expansion

Revolt Motors is launching electric motorcycles in Nepal, following its entry into Sri Lanka. The company plans exports to several countries, including three in Asia and Mexico. They will offer a complete product range and establish 15 showrooms in Nepal. The current production facility can meet demand, with additional capacity under consideration for future growth.
Revolt Motors is expanding its operations by entering the Nepalese market after a successful launch in Sri Lanka last year. The company plans to export electric motorcycles to Nepal and is eyeing three additional countries in Africa, South-East Asia, and West Asia within the next financial year. Eventually, the company intends to set up assembly plants in regions such as Africa and Mexico, according to Anjali Rattan, Chairperson of RattanIndia Enterprises, which promotes Revolt Motors.
In 2024, Nepal experienced around 1.7 lakh units of two-wheeler sales, with electric vehicle penetration below 4%. Scooters represent approximately 37% of total sales, and Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have a notable 45% share in the scooter market. Indian products are highly favored in Nepal due to their reliability and familiarity, Rattan remarked.
Revolt will introduce its complete range of electric motorcycles, including models like RV400, RV400 BRZ, RV1, RV1+, and RV BlazeX, all backed by a robust after-sales service network. The company is collaborating with the MV Dugar Group, opening its first Revolt Hub in Kathmandu in April and planning to establish 15 showrooms in major cities within the next few months.
Rattan emphasized that Nepal represents a key strategic market due to its commitment to clean energy and the rising demand for sustainable transportation. Given Nepal’s unique terrain, where motorcycles are favored, introducing their smart, efficient electric motorcycles presents an exciting opportunity. The company aims for an annual sales target of 500 units in Nepal, with the first consignment expected to begin this week.
Regarding manufacturing capabilities, Rattan noted that the existing plant in Manesar (Haryana) can produce around 1.80 lakh units annually, sufficient for current needs, as only 35,000 units are produced yearly. In February, the company’s domestic sales reached 760 motorcycles, marking a significant yearly growth of 58% compared to 480 units sold in February of the previous year. Looking ahead, the company is considering new manufacturing facilities in South Indian states like Tamil Nadu or Karnataka in the next 18 months.
In addition to Revolt, other electric two-wheeler manufacturers, including Ather, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor, and Ultraviolet, are already exporting their products to neighboring countries.
Revolt Motors is strategically entering the Nepalese electric motorcycle market, building on its previous success in Sri Lanka. With plans for expansion into multiple countries and the establishment of showrooms and partnerships, the company aims to capture a portion of the growing two-wheeler market in Nepal. Their capacity for production and the favorable market conditions indicate positive potential for Revolt’s growth in this region.
