Murder Case of Muskaan Rastogi: A Look Inside Jail Dynamics and Charges

Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla are accused of murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput and have requested to stay together in jail, which was denied. Sahil shows signs of withdrawal, and both have isolated themselves from other prisoners. They were arrested for a gruesome crime involving drugging, stabbing, and dismembering Saurabh’s body.
Muskaan Rastogi and her partner Sahil Shukla, both accused of murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput, have requested to be housed together in Meerut’s Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail, but officials have denied this due to regulations. They are currently placed in nearby shared cells. Sources indicate that Sahil is experiencing withdrawal symptoms and has become visibly restless, while both inmates refrain from interacting with fellow prisoners and have not received any visitors yet.
Initial reports from the prison indicated that Muskaan did not consume food during her first day; however, she has since resumed eating. Both Muskaan and Sahil are under judicial custody following their arrest last week, with police planning to seek their custody for further investigation. They allegedly killed Saurabh, a former Merchant Navy officer who returned home to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.
Investigators assert that on March 4, Muskaan drugged Saurabh, ultimately leading to his death by stabbing. Following the murder, the couple dismembered his body into 15 pieces, sealing them in a drum filled with wet cement and later traveled to Himachal Pradesh, using Saurabh’s phone to create misleading social media posts.
Muskaan and Saurabh were married in 2016 and have a six-year-old daughter. Their relationship reportedly soured due to Muskaan’s affair with Sahil, which Saurabh discovered around 2019. Although he considered divorce, Saurabh held back for the sake of their daughter. Muskaan’s parents claim the murder stemmed from their fear that Saurabh would restrict their drug use, while Saurabh’s family accused Muskaan of marrying for financial gain and harbored animosity toward her from the start.
The case involves serious allegations of murder and dismemberment by Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, highlighting issues of drug addiction and strained family relationships. Currently in judicial custody, the couple’s future investigative proceedings will determine charges substantively. The troubling dynamics in the marriage and implications of drug use reflect significant societal concerns regarding family breakdowns and substance abuse.
