Emmanuel Ofobrukueta, kidnapped in Delta State two months ago, has a family calling on IGP Kayode Egbetokun for intervention. Despite a N4,020,000 ransom being paid, he remains missing. Legal representation highlights possible collusion among associates as they urge police action to ensure his safe return.

The family of Emmanuel Ofobrukueta, a retired director kidnapped in Delta State, has appealed for the intervention of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to secure his immediate rescue. Frank Tietie, their solicitor from Forthright Chambers, made the request during a news conference in Abuja, stating they had submitted a petition regarding this case to the I-G.

Ofobrukueta was abducted on January 13 in front of his house in Mosogar, near Sapele, as he was set to travel to Asaba for pension processing. Tietie mentioned that the victim has been held captive for two months despite the Delta State Police Command’s rescue attempts.[…] The family undertook self-help measures, including hiring a private tracking firm, shortly after the abduction to aid in securing his release.

Despite paying a ransom of N4,020,000 through intermediaries, the kidnappers have not released Ofobrukueta nor provided any subsequent communication. Tietie expressed concerns about possible collusion from close associates of the victim, including those who transported the ransom money.

While the situation appears grim, the family holds hope in the Nigeria Police’s capabilities to resolve this case. Tietie formally urged the I-G to personally oversee the investigation and deploy resources to locate and rescue Ofobrukueta.

In addition, Tietie called upon the Delta State Government to conduct an investigation to ensure the victim’s safe return, emphasizing the need for governmental and police coordination to aid all kidnapping victims in similar situations.

The family of Emmanuel Ofobrukueta seeks urgent intervention from IGP Kayode Egbetokun following his kidnapping two months ago. Despite paying a ransom, the victim remains missing, prompting calls for an investigation and resource deployment by law enforcement. The family’s hope hinges on the Nigeria Police’s commitment to rescue not only Ofobrukueta but all individuals captured by kidnappers.
