Arrests Made After Firearm Found in Minibus During Police Search

A minibus driver and several passengers were arrested after a Glock 9mm pistol was discovered on board. The incident took place on Sunday when police received specific information leading them to search the minibus at Shanta Creek on the Soesdyke Linden Highway. During the search, the firearm was found concealed behind the driver’s seat in a bag, which the driver, Adrian Dailey, claimed did not belong to him.
The passengers included a diverse group of individuals: Pettol October, a CJIA security guard; Sharmain Yearwood, a supervisor from East Bank Demerara; Dewon Johnson, a housewife from Timehri; Janell Maloney, also a CJIA supervisor; Sherwin October, a Timehri foreman; Amanda Glendon, a Customer Service Representative; Tramain Gordon, a housewife; Nitesha Sookwah and Nicki Jordan, both housewives; Devon Hazel, a 25-year-old from Georgetown; Andrew Black, a Block-Maker from Timehri; and two 17-year-old girls who were questioned.
Upon being asked about their belongings, none of the passengers claimed the bag containing the firearm nor acknowledged knowledge of its existence. Consequently, all were informed of the offense and subsequently arrested. The group was taken to the Timehri Police Station for further investigation, with Dailey and all other occupants in custody pending inquiries on the incident.
