The Liberia National Police has suspended two officers for unlawfully entering a vehicle belonging to Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah. The suspensions come after an investigation into the theft of cash and valuables associated with the incident. Further actions will follow based on connections to the reported crime and ongoing investigations.

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has suspended two officers due to illegal entry into a vehicle belonging to Montserado County District 10 Representative Yekeh Y. Kolubah. This incident involved a gray Nissan Jeep parked at the Capitol Building, which was unlawfully accessed by the officers on February 18, 2025.

The suspension is a result of an investigation by the LNP’s Professional Standards Division (PSD), which determined that Chief Inspector Frank P. Banda was suspended without pay for two months for unlawfully entering the vehicle. In contrast, Sergeant Sam C.F. Karbah received a one-month unpaid suspension for unlawfully opening the Jeep.

The investigation was prompted by Representative Kolubah’s report of the theft of cash—amounting to US$25,000 and 2,000,000 Liberian Dollars—as well as valuable items totaling around US$2,500, including electronics and jewelry. It was noted that further actions are recommended depending on any established links between the officers and the alleged crime.

Additionally, the LNP has invited an individual named Jack Traore for questioning related to drilling the driver’s side door of the vehicle. The LNP emphasizes its commitment to conducting thorough investigations and maintaining professional integrity, assuring the public of transparency in addressing these issues.

In conclusion, the LNP has suspended two officers for their unlawful actions regarding a vehicle investigation that involves theft. The consequences aim to uphold police accountability and transparency. As investigations continue, further actions will be taken based on the findings to ensure justice and professionalism within the police force.
