Honda and Ineos are recalling five vehicle models in South Africa due to defects affecting the steering and door mechanisms. Honda’s Civic and CR-V models may experience power steering issues, while Ineos’s Grenadier SUV faces door button malfunctions. Affected customers should visit dealers for repairs.

Honda Motor Company Southern Africa and Ineos Automotive South Africa have both issued recalls for five vehicle models due to identified defects. The affected Honda models include the 2022-2025 Civic four-door sedan, Civic five-door Type R hatchback, and the CR-V SUV. These vehicles may face issues with their electric power steering, particularly the worm wheel, causing abnormal noises or steering problems.

A total of 1.7 million vehicles worldwide are impacted by this safety concern, prompting Honda to advise consumers to visit authorized suppliers for necessary repairs. Ineos has also recalled its Grenadier SUV and Quartermaster bakkie due to a separate issue. Customers reported that door buttons could remain depressed when a door is opened, leading to improper door closure.

These vehicles are sold nationally through SMH Group Johannesburg and SMG Ineos Grenadier in KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town, and they are also exported to several countries including Namibia, Botswana, and Nigeria. Owners of the affected vehicles are encouraged to visit their nearest or preferred dealerships or authorized repair centers to schedule an inspection and receive necessary repairs on door button mechanisms.

Honda and Ineos have both initiated recalls in South Africa due to safety issues with several of their vehicle models. Consumers are urged to take immediate action by contacting their dealers to arrange inspections and repairs. This proactive approach is vital in ensuring the safety of all drivers and passengers.
