Nigeria Police Neutralize Vandals Attempting Pipeline Bombing in Rivers State

The Nigeria Police killed suspected vandals attempting to bomb a pipeline in Rivers State during a security operation. Commissioner Olugbenga Adepoju confirmed the incident and stated that the rapid response of security forces led to the suspects’ deaths. Additional operations also led to arrests and the confiscation of explosives, enhancing security in the region.

On Tuesday, the Nigeria Police Command in Rivers State reported the killing of multiple suspected vandals who were attempting to sabotage a pipeline in the Rumuekpe Aluu community. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju confirmed that these suspects died on the scene during the incident as part of ongoing security operations.

In his briefing to the media in Port Harcourt, Adepoju stated, “The joint security forces successfully thwarted an attempt by miscreants to vandalise a pipeline, leading to the death of the vandals who sought to detonate it.” This swift response occurred in the Ikwerre Local Government Area on March 16, preventing further destruction.

Following this incident, security forces moved to Onelga LGA on March 19, where they halted another planned bomb attack. During this operation, two suspects were apprehended with four dynamites. The police also managed to detonate various explosive device components, strengthening the region’s security efforts.

The Rivers State Police have intensified their operations against vandalism and terrorism, resulting in the deaths of suspected vandals and the arrest of additional criminals. The coordination between different security agencies has proven effective in preventing potential attacks, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding vital infrastructure in the area.
