President Trump has appointed Brent Bozell as U.S. ambassador to South Africa, noting his commitment to combatting “Fake News.” Bozell’s experience includes leading the Media Research Center for 38 years. His son was recently pardoned for charges related to the January 6 Capitol riots, while tensions arose when South Africa’s ambassador faced a ban from entering the U.S.

President Donald Trump has appointed L. Brent Bozell III, founder of the Media Research Center, as the new U.S. ambassador to South Africa. Trump emphasized Bozell’s extensive experience in combating what he terms “Fake News hypocrites.” In a Truth Social post, Trump stated, “Brent brings fearless tenacity, extraordinary experience, and vast knowledge to a Nation that desperately needs it.”

Bozell is noted for his 38 years of leadership at the Media Research Center and is recognized for his understanding of the global media landscape. Previously, he served as CEO of the United States Agency for Global Media, also appointed by Trump. The President acknowledged Bozell’s commitment to American principles such as Liberty, Freedom, and Justice.

Additionally, Bozell’s family has been involved in legal controversies; his son, Leo Brent Bozell IV, was recently pardoned by Trump for his participation in the January 6 Capitol riots, following a 45-month prison sentence for various charges.

Tensions between the U.S. and South Africa escalated when Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared South Africa’s Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool persona non grata after Rasool likened Trump’s MAGA movement to white supremacy. Rubio stated, “Ebrahim Rasool is a race-baiting politician who hates America and hates @POTUS.”

The appointment of Brent Bozell as the U.S. ambassador to South Africa highlights his longstanding commitment to countering what is described as “Fake News” and underscores his substantial experience in media. The situation is compounded by political tensions involving the South African ambassador, illustrating the complexities of U.S.-South African relations.
