Great Plains has launched the Young Explorers Programme, designed for family safaris in Botswana, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. This program allows children to immerse themselves in nature, learn about wildlife conservation, and experience new adventures. Activities range from canoeing in the Okavango Delta to engaging with Maasai warriors, making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience for young adventurers.

The Young Explorers Programme kicks off upon arrival at the camps, where kids aged six and up receive an “exploring essentials” kit. This contains a guidebook, hat, stickers, quizzes, a journal, and a certificate that emphasizes lifelong learning and adventure in wildlife.

In Botswana, Great Plains has seven camps that provide an engaging family safari experience while exploring unique landscapes and wildlife. Activities include canoeing on traditional mokoro, fishing adventures, and interactive cooking experiences. Children can also participate in tech-free games and learn essential tracking skills during game drives and bird-watching trips.

Kenya presents a different experience with five camps, including the new Mara Toto Tree Camp, where young explorers can engage in animal tracking and cultural activities like meeting Maasai warriors. They can make Kenyan meals, participate in horseback safaris, and enjoy unique activities such as swimming in pools built from WWII trucks at Mara Expedition Camp.

In Zimbabwe, Great Plains operates Tembo Plains Camp and Mpala Jena Camp, which offer luxurious family accommodations and the opportunity to explore Victoria Falls. Activities here include guided bush walks, canoeing on the Zambezi, and creative workshops like pizza-making. Families can enjoy specially tailored menus to cater to young tastes.

The Young Explorers Programme is crafted to ignite a passion for wildlife, encouraging children to break away from routine life and return enriched and enlightened. Upon arrival, they receive a Young Explorers pack filled with games, a diary, and educational content, ensuring an unforgettable adventure. Great Plains also provides expert guides to mentor and nurture these young adventurers throughout their safari journey.

The Great Plains Young Explorers Programme offers a unique family safari experience across Africa, with immersive activities designed to engage and educate children on wildlife conservation. Each camp caters to young adventurers through hands-on experiences, cultural immersion, and opportunities for learning. By fostering a spirit of exploration, the programme aims to inspire the next generation of conservationists while creating lasting family memories.
