A 12-year-old boy named Adnan Bulana was killed by a stray bullet in Niger State while vigilantes attempted to disperse a group of suspected hoodlums in the Soje ‘A’ area of Minna. The incident occurred when vigilantes, who were reportedly arresting miscreants, faced resistance and retaliated with gunfire and tear gas. Tragically, Adnan was sent on an errand by his mother and became an unintended victim during the confrontation.

Amidst escalating tensions, local youths attacked the vigilante office in Kpakungu following the incident that led to Adnan’s death. The Niger State Police Command spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident and stated that police patrols were dispatched to restore order. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the stray bullet that hit Adnan.

In another related incident, on the previous day, March 31, 2025, a stabbing occurred in Anguwan-Roka, Maitumbi, where a fight among youths resulted in a man named Safaryu Musa being injured. He received immediate medical attention at a nearby clinic. Both incidents highlight the increasing violence in the area, prompting police to enhance local security and conduct further investigations.

The tragic death of 12-year-old Adnan Bulana underscores the dangers posed by vigilante actions when law enforcement is inadequately managing crime. While local authorities confirm they are investigating the stray bullet incident, the violence between rival youth groups in nearby areas illustrates broader issues of public safety and community conflict. Urgent measures to prevent such occurrences are necessary to protect innocent lives.
