A 16-year-old student accidentally shot a classmate at Adventist Senior High School. The student had brought a homemade pistol to school, which discharged during a demonstration. The injured student is in stable condition and the suspect has been arrested. Investigations continue into the source of the firearm.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has initiated an investigation into a shooting incident that took place at the Adventist Senior High School on April 4 at around 12:00 PM. Initial findings indicate that a 16-year-old second-year student brought a homemade pistol loaded with BB ammunition to school.

It is reported that the student sought to show the firearm to a classmate, resulting in an accidental discharge that hit another student. The injured party received treatment at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

A press release, signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Godwin Atsu Ahianyo, emphasized that the identities of those involved are being withheld for privacy. The juvenile suspect has been arrested, and the empty cartridge has been secured as evidence.

During interviews, the suspect indicated he had taken the weapon from his father’s bedroom without consent. Authorities are now endeavoring to locate the father for assistance in the investigation.
