Violence in Niger State: Hoodlum Attacks Leave One Dead, One Injured

In Niger State, hoodlums killed bank driver Mohammed Abo’ore who aided vigilantes against drug activity, while activist Nura Yarima suffered an attack by a group of assailants. Police confirmed the incidents and are investigating; one suspect has been arrested.

In Minna, Niger State, hoodlums have reportedly killed a bank driver named Mohammed Abo’ore while also attacking a public affairs activist, Nura Yarima. Abo’ore had volunteered to assist local vigilantes in apprehending criminals using an abandoned building to consume cannabis. Tragically, during the attempt, he was stabbed with scissors by a suspect named Nura Buhari and subsequently died at Minna General Hospital.

According to Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a vigilante leader informed the police of miscreants in Fadikpe involved in drug use. Vigilante members were dispatched to make arrests while Abo’ore aided the effort. Unfortunately, he was fatally wounded and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Arrested during the incident was Abdullahi Rabiu, another suspect, who is now collaborating with the police to capture the remaining offenders.

Additionally, activist Nura Yarima reported being assaulted by a group of men identified as Mansir Kabir, Abubakar, Hamza, and Abu at a local plaza. Yarima sustained severe injuries from the attack. Following the incident, the police arrested Mansir Kabir and are pursuing further leads to apprehend the accomplices involved in the assault against Yarima.

The violent events in Minna, Niger State, underscore the challenges faced by community members combating crime. The tragic death of driver Mohammed Abo’ore highlights the risks individuals encounter in their efforts to assist local law enforcement.
