Liberia’s NPHIL has confirmed four new mpox cases across different counties. All patients are stable and receiving care, while public health officials are urging calm and adherence to health protocols to prevent further spread. The country has a total of 78 confirmed cases, with only one active infection. Recent incidents have heightened awareness, especially with a comedian publicly sharing his experience with the virus. Vaccination efforts are ongoing.

Liberia has confirmed four new mpox cases, as announced by the Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan. The cases have been reported in three different regions: one from Sinoe, two from Montserrado, and one from Margibi County. Dr. Nyan provided this update during a joint press conference held with officials from the Ministry of Health and both the Africa Center for Disease Control and the World Organization. He urged the public to stay calm and follow health precautions to avoid additional spread of the virus.

Each of the patients is currently stable and receiving treatment, according to Dr. Nyan. He also indicated that since January 2024 through to May 11, 2025, Liberia has logged 652 suspected mpox cases, with laboratory tests performed on 572 of those.
