The Houthi political bureau condemned the strikes, labeling them a “war crime” and affirmed their military readiness to respond with force if necessary. In a recent social media post, Trump warned the Houthis, stating, “YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY… HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE!” Additionally, he warned Iran that any threats against American citizens or shipping lanes would lead to severe consequences.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi criticized the US, asserting that Washington has no right to dictate Iranian foreign policy and urged them to halt support for what he termed “Israeli genocide and terrorism.” Following the strikes, the Trump administration reiterated the reclassification of the Houthi group, prohibiting any US engagement with them.
The Houthis have maintained a prominent presence in Yemen, conducting numerous attacks on ships since the escalation of conflict following the Israel-Hamas war outbreak in October 2023.
