Interpol has launched a global alert to locate Sudiksha Konanki, an Indian-origin student who went missing in the Dominican Republic. A Virginia resident studying at the University of Pittsburgh, she mysteriously disappeared while on spring break. According to the yellow notice issued by Interpol for missing individuals, Ms. Konanki was last sighted in Punta Cana on March 6 and is characterized as being 1.6 meters tall with black hair and brown eyes.

Sudiksha was on vacation with five female classmates. Surveillance footage captured the group walking towards the beach, but while her friends returned to their hotel, Sudiksha was later seen with Joshua Riibe, a senior at St. Cloud State University. Riibe has become a “person of interest” in the case.

Riibe has admitted to being with Sudiksha the night she disappeared. He stated that they were in waist-deep water when a wave pulled them out to sea. Despite being a trained lifeguard, he struggled while trying to keep her afloat, ultimately losing sight of her after he started to vomit seawater. He returned to his hotel alone, as captured by surveillance footage.

Initially, authorities believed Sudiksha drowned, but her family is advocating for a thorough investigation into alternative theories, such as possible abduction. They find it suspicious that Sudiksha left her phone and wallet with her friends, as she typically carried her phone. She is a biology and chemistry student living with her family in Loudoun County, Virginia.
