Spotify Launches ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ Contest in Argentina for Emerging Artists

Spotify’s ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ launches in Argentina, allowing emerging artists to compete for a performance slot at Quilmes Rock. Local fans will vote for their favorites through the Spotify app, with crucial eligibility requirements in place. This initiative aims to launch new music careers while promoting local talent.
Spotify has launched its first-ever ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ music contest in Argentina, aimed at supporting emerging artists. This initiative follows a successful introduction in Mexico, where artist Mia Salinas made her debut. Argentine participants can showcase their music and engage directly with fans, who will vote for their favorites through the Spotify app, effectively kick-starting new music careers in the region.
The grand prize for winners is a coveted performance slot at Quilmes Rock, one of Argentina’s premier rock festivals, alongside renowned acts like Los Piojos and Andrés Calamaro. Scheduled for April 5-6 and April 12-13 at Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires, the festival also offers the winner a feature in Spotify’s Top Verano 2025 playlist.
Carolina Martin, Spotify’s Artist & Label Partnerships Lead for the Southern Cone, emphasized the significance of national rock in Argentina. She stated that this contest aims to provide a platform for emerging talent, allowing them to present their music on a large stage while utilizing Spotify as their promotional platform.
Participation in the contest involves multiple stages:
1. From February 4-11, artists must upload a video of themselves performing an original rock, indie, or pop-rock song on TikTok with the hashtag SpotifyMiPrimerEscenario; the top 20 entries will move on to the semifinals.
2. From February 19-28, Spotify will select 10 finalists, and local fans can vote for their favorites from a curated playlist in the app, with voting rules varying for free and Premium users.
3. The winner will be announced on March 5 and will perform a 30-minute set at Quilmes Rock, with all finalists featured in a Spotify editorial playlist.
Eligibility requirements for artists include being an Argentine resident over legal age, with an active Spotify profile containing six original tracks, and having fewer than 50,000 monthly listeners. Additionally, artists must have active TikTok accounts and include a link to their Spotify profile in their bio.
The ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ initiative by Spotify is designed to bolster the local music scene by giving emerging artists a stage. It aligns with Spotify’s broader strategy of promoting fresh talent and enhancing listener engagement. Following its successful debut in Mexico, the contest aims to replicate that momentum in Argentina, encouraging participation from local artists who may lack exposure and resources.
In summary, Spotify’s ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ contest facilitates a significant opportunity for emerging Argentine artists to gain exposure and launch their careers through a public voting process and a major festival appearance. The structured approach to participation, combined with clear eligibility criteria, ensures a fair competition that supports the vibrant local music ecosystem.
