Chief Khoabane Theko has stated that Meghan Markle has never visited Lesotho, raising concerns about Prince Harry’s commitment to Sentebale. He believes Harry’s recent disengagement has negatively impacted the charity’s spirit. The controversy surrounding the charity includes allegations of bullying, leading to both Harry and Prince Seeiso resigning from their roles. The examination of the charity’s governance is now underway.

Meghan Markle has not visited Lesotho, according to Chief Khoabane Theko, brother of Prince Seeiso. He expressed concerns about Prince Harry’s declining interest in Sentebale, the charity he founded, attributing this shift to Harry’s marriage and life in the United States since 2020. Theko believes Harry’s reduced involvement has diminished the charity’s spirit since his last visit was in October 2024, marking a six-year gap from previous trips.

In an interview with The Telegraph conducted near Sentebale’s Mamohato Children’s Centre, Chief Theko recalled Harry’s early passion for Africa, citing his strong words during the charity’s launch. He criticized Harry’s current lack of engagement, suggesting it contradicts the expectations of him as a guardian of his mother’s legacy. He stated, “He’s a loved figure because of his openness, but his loss of interest has totally killed the spirit of the Sentebale’s survival.”

The chief voiced surprise at Harry’s distancing from the charity amidst new controversies, including allegations from Dr. Sophie Chandauka regarding harassment and the charity’s management being misused as a PR tool for the Sussexes. This has prompted both Harry and Prince Seeiso to resign from the charity, with the Charity Commission now investigating its governance.

Chief Theko expressed concern over Harry and Meghan vacationing in Africa but not visiting Lesotho, suggesting a disconnect. He stated, “I was surprised to see them come to Botswana but not Lesotho,” and lamented, “Did she never come to Lesotho, Meghan? No she hasn’t.” He noted that this absence makes Meghan feel like a “far-away person” to the Lesotho community, emphasizing that the couple’s visits to other African nations haven’t included Lesotho. Despite this, Theko described Harry as a relatable individual who was well-liked during his earlier visits.

The claims made by Chief Khoabane Theko highlight concerns regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s commitment to the charity Sentebale, emphasizing Meghan Markle’s lack of presence in Lesotho. The declining engagement of Prince Harry with the charity has raised alarms about its future, especially amid allegations of mismanagement. The lack of visits by the couple reinforces perceptions of distance from the community that Sentebale serves, despite Harry’s earlier dedication and affection for the region.
