The incident occurred last June near Conifer when the semi-truck he was driving, loaded with large steep pipes, veered off the roadway and rolled over. This caused the pipes to spill out, colliding with several vehicles and resulting in the death of 64-year-old Scott Miller.

The Colorado State Patrol determined that excessive speed was a significant factor in the crash, coupled with a failure of the truck’s brakes. Cruz-Mendoza, a Mexican citizen, has previously been removed from the U.S. multiple times. On Thursday, ICE’s Denver office confirmed his deportation via a social media announcement.
