The Nigeria Police successfully extradited fugitive Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, alias “Killaboi,” from Qatar. He is accused of murdering undergraduate Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe in July 2023. The operation involved INTERPOL and other international agencies, ensuring he faces prosecution in Nigeria. IGP Egbetokun commended the collaborative effort in combating transnational crime.

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria. This event occurred early on April 19, 2025, following his alleged involvement in the murder of Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old undergraduate student. The extradition was facilitated through coordinated efforts involving the Ministry of Justice and INTERPOL, as stated by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Nnayereugo was on the run for approximately two years after allegedly committing the crime on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Lagos. After fleeing Nigeria, he reportedly posted an online confession, which was deemed deceptive. His extradition was prompted by a petition from the victim’s family, processed through INTERPOL NCB Abuja.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Nnayereugo had travelled to multiple countries, using various aliases. He was initially captured in Sierra Leone but escaped custody during a prison break. After further attempts to evade capture, he was tracked down in Qatar, where authorities arrested him in February 2025 after verifying his identity via biometric data.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the efforts of INTERPOL NCB Abuja, highlighting the international collaboration necessary to tackle transnational crime. He expressed gratitude to the Attorney-General, the Government of Qatar, and INTERPOL NCB Doha for their assistance in the extradition. The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to a thorough prosecution of Nnayereugo for his alleged crimes.

The successful extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo marks a significant achievement for the Nigeria Police Force and international law enforcement collaboration. This case emphasizes the global fight against transnational crime, involving multiple jurisdictions and advanced identification methods. As Nnayereugo faces charges in Nigeria, the commitment to justice and the safety of citizens is affirmed by the authorities.
