Alleged B.C. Drug Trafficker Arrested in Oman After Three-Year Manhunt

Casey faced a total of 17 charges related to drug and firearm offenses. He was wanted by the Vancouver Police Department, which issued Canada-wide warrants against him. Court documents show that the charges stem from incidents that occurred on July 27, 2020, and include possession for the intent to traffic several dangerous substances such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and ketamine.

Additionally, Casey was charged with possessing multiple firearms, including a Sturmgewehr STG44 rifle and a Mossberg model 715 Tactical T 22 rifle. In early October 2021, Judge John Milne allowed Casey to be released on a hefty $200,000 bail, under strict conditions including the surrender of his passport.

In collaboration with Janell Elizabeth Sandhu, Casey is accused of unlawful production and possession of controlled substances between December 2019 and February 2020. After his arrest, he was fitted with an electronic ankle monitor but eventually cut it off less than two weeks before his trial was scheduled, leading to his years-long evasion.

The VPD ramped up efforts to locate him in June 2023. Insp. Phil Heard of the VPD’s organized crime unit expressed concern, urging anyone with information to come forward. Investigators believed Casey had left Canada shortly before the start of his trial in 2022.

A significant drug bust in February 2020 led to the discovery of a drug lab in a condo at 1255 Seymour St., where authorities seized over four kilograms of fentanyl. Later, on July 27, 2020, the VPD executed multiple search warrants across the city, retrieving more than 20 kilograms of fentanyl, nearly 10 kilograms of meth, and several firearms. The value of the seized drugs was estimated at nearly $5 million. Casey was arrested shortly after but was released on bail, and the hunt for him continued after he went on the run.
